Research

So far in my research I've seen that different tempos can influence the brain. A fast tempo can make a person feel pumped up, energetic, and elated. However, a slower tempo can make a person feel calm, serene, or in drastic cases, depressed.

Parts of the brain are active when a person listens to music. The motor cortex of the brain is functioning when u tap your foot while listening to music, dancing or when playing an instrument. The visual cortex is active when someone is sight reading music or looking at sheet music. The hippocampus is in function when someone is trying to memorize the lyrics, rhythm, or tempo of the music.

The amygdala is a part of the brain that functions when a person creates an emotional connection to the music they are listening to. The auditory cortex is active when someone is first beginning to listen to a song they are hearing per say for the first time ever. I have also discovered that the type of music someone listens to, the more it can describe a person's personality.

Hello!

Ever since I have loved listening to music I have always wondered how can music affect your emotions and the brain....
For the next few weeks, I will be researching on how music can influence the brain, and how different genres of music can affect the brain.I will also research if people of different ages respond differently to the same music.
